NGC 4984 (also MCG -2-34-4, 2SZ 6, IRAS13062-1514 and PGC 45585) is a magnitude +11.3 lenticular galaxy located 59 million light-years away in Virgo.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 8th February 1785. 

Supernova 2011iy was discovered on December 9, 2011 by Japanese amateur astronomer Koichi Itagaki.

Right Ascension 13h 08m 57.1s, Declination -15° 30' 57"
