NGC 1796 (also ESO 119-30, AM 0507-611, IRAS05021-6112 and PGC 16617) is a magnitude +12.1 barred spiral galaxy located 47 million light-years away in the constellation Dorado.

The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town, on the 26th December 1834. 

Right Ascension 05h 02m 42.8s, Declination -61° 08' 23"
