NGC 1848 (also ESO 56-SC68) is a magnitude +9.7 open star cluster located in the constellation Mensa.  

The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Capetown on the 26th November 1834. 

Right Ascension 05h 07m 27.2s, Declination -71° 11' 44"
