NGC 1600 (also PGC 15406, MCG -1-12-17) is a magnitude +11.0 giant elliptical galaxy located 220 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope on the 26th November 1786.
It is visible with a 150mm telescope as a oval hazy structure, extending in a north-south direction, about 2 degrees SSW of the star Nu Eridani.
