The best time to look is between 10 pm local time on Tuesday, Dec. 13, and sunrise on Wednesday, Dec. 14th. Geminids, which spray out of the constellation Gemini, can appear anywhere in the sky.

John and Lou Clark of Hillsboro were headed east on School Street in Hillsboro at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, when they saw a streak flash across the sky.
What the Clarks saw was the beginning of the final-and most spectacular-meteor shower of the year, the Geminid meteor shower.

2011 Geminid Meteor Shower



"The Geminids are here, Despite the Bright Full Moon. I turn on my all sky video sky cameras last night, I captured several dozen in each of the cameras, the activity will only increase, so Dress warm and get out and view one of the better showers. Moonlight wipes out many fainter meteors, but there have been so many bright Geminids, and it's worth watching"

With less than a month before Christmas, it's time for Santa's annual shower.
If you don't mind the cold, the Geminids Meteor Shower peaks December 14 and promises to put on a magnificent show. 
Some say that it could be better than the Perseid's Meteor Shower back in August. This year it certainly will be. In August, the glare of the full moon wiped out most meteors.

Kim Fiumara said she typically catches an occasional shooting star during her morning runs.
But Fiumara caught more than that Tuesday morning.
Fiumara caught a glimpse of the annual Geminid meteor shower, which astronomers consider the best of the year. More than 100 meteors streaked through the night sky every hour, according to the Associated Press.
Fiumara said it was her first meteor shower during her 5 a.m. run. She said it seemed like there was one large shooting star per minute coming from all different directions.
