Two minerals make up the interlocking crystals seen in the Widmanstätten pattern in iron meteorites: kamacite and taenite. Both are iron-nickel alloys, but taenite contains a much higher proportion of nickel.

The Pitts (Iron) meteorite fell in Georgia, USA, on the 20th April, 1921.
A total mass of 3.76 kg was recovered.
