Having vitriolized some of the meteorick stones of Aigle and Salles, near Villefranche, in the Lionese, M. Sage obtained alum from both, but in unequal proportions; the former, yielding one fourth, but the latter, not more than one eighth.

The Salles (L5) meteorite fell in Rhone-Alpes, France, on the 12th March, 1798.
A total mass of 9 kg was recovered.

46° 3'N, 4° 38'E
