A stone fell after thunderous detonation to the fields between the villages now called Divina and Budatín in sight of the peasants working there. János Lottner, pastor of Nagydivina, an eyewitness of the fall, hurried to the spot and took home the stone, which was still warm after half an hour. He handed over the meteorite to his landlady, Ludovika Lasanszky, widow of Count Csáky. She donated the specimen to the Hungarian National Museum on 17 July, 1838. A 2-oz fragment broken off during the landing was given by Lottner to the mineral collection of the Viennese Court (now Natural History Museum in Vienna).

The Gross-Divina (H5 chondrite) meteorite fell in Stredoslovensky, Slovakia, on the 24th July, 1837.
A total mass of 10.5 kg was recovered.

49° 16'N, 18° 43'E
