János Somlyódy, chief constable at Nyíracsád, observed a wide stripe of fire on the sky and heard 7 to 9 detonations a few minutes after its extinction. He managed to acquire a stone that fell in the vicinity of Nyírábrány, and sent it to the Nyíregyháza Museum (now kept in the Rudabánya Museum).

The Nyirábrany (LL5 chondrite) meteorite fell in Hajdu-Bihar, Hungary, on the 17th July, 1914.
A total mass of 1100 g was recovered.

47° 33' 0"N, 22° 1' 30"E
