The Hungary: Gyor; Czechoslovakia: Komarom earthquake on June 28, 1763 had a magnitude of 6.2. The earthquake caused injuries, 83 deaths and damage in millions.

The most devastating earthquake to strike Hungary, estimated at 6.3 on the Richter scale, hit Komárom on June 28, 1763. It caused 63 deaths and heavily damaged buildings.

Until now, in Hungary earthquakes greater than M=6 Richter-magnitude, or 9° Mercalli intensity have not been noted, for this reason according to the definition we reckon Hungary's territory as aseismic area. At the same time in Hungary, there have been about 10 such earthquakes in this century, which have the intensity of 7° < I0 < 9° on Mercalli's scale.
