At around one-thirty in the afternoon a small meteorite shower struck farming land in northern Spain near Barcelona with some noise and violence. The largest fragment found, called the Caņellas Meteorite, weighed 859 grams, was of chrondite, and can be found at the Natural History Museum in Madrid.

The Caņellas (H4) meteorite fell in Cataluna, Spain, on the 14th May, 1861.
A total mass of 945 g was recovered.

The 859-gram Canellas H4 brecciated chondrite-type meteorite fell near  Canellas, Barcelona, at 13:30 on the 14th May, 1861.

Latitude: 41° 15' N, Longitude: 1° 40' E
