Bright Space Technologies supplies touchscreen for BBCs Stargazing Live

The MultiDyne USB 2000 was loaned in order to link the 65in Philips touch screen with the graphics PC located in the Jodrell Bank Observatory more than 30 meters away, allowing viewers to see images of the planets in our galaxy and beyond.

During the programme, Brian Cox takes Dara on a crash course of the skies, showing him how to spot and take pictures of celestial marvels.

Lost astronomy mosaic from former Leicester subway

As many prepare to raise their eyes to the skies as part of Stargazing Live, BBC Leicester has been looking back on a lost piece of public art which celebrated the work of a 16th Century astronomer.
The mosaics were commissioned in the 1960s by Leicester City Council who asked Mansfield-born designer Sue Ridge to create a series of colourful works to adorn the walls of the Newarke Subway. These photos were taken shortly before the subway was closed.
Sue took her inspiration from the work of Danish observational astronomer Tycho Brahe. Born into nobility in 1546, Brache made a catalogue of over 1000 stars over his lifetime.

University of Manchester scientist Professor Brian Cox will be presenting a live BBC2 TV show in the New Year to help bring astronomy down to earth.

Professor Cox will be joined by comedian Dara O'Briain to present Stargazing Live - three nights of fascinating footage from the University's Jodrell Bank Observatory.
The three live broadcasts, on the evenings of January 3rd-5th, hope to inspire people to look up at the wonders that fill our skies every night of the year.
Each programme is set to feature stunning images streamed live from telescopes across the globe, including the world-famous Lovell telescope, as well as from satellites hundreds of miles above the Earth's surface.

'Stargazing Live' runs in early January, timed to coincide with a number of major astronomical events.
The period will see a partial eclipse of the sun, a major meteorite shower and the close conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus.
On BBC One, Professor Brian Cox and the comedian Dara O'Briain are hosting three days of live stargazing featuring epic images from observatories around the globe.

Jonathan Ross is no stranger to stars but he will be taking a closer look at them from behind a telescope in a new BBC show.
The former chatshow host, who quit the corporation earlier this year, is returning to appear in a three-part series on BBC2 in January called Stargazing Live.
