The Russian carrier rocket Soyuz-FG, launched from the Baikonur space centre on the night of August 13-14, and successfully put the U.S. Galaxy-14 satellite into orbit.

"The spacecraft separated from the Russian acceleration unit, reached its calculated orbit and was placed under the control of the U.S. customer" - Roskosmos spokesman.

The Friday launch was scrubbed 30 seconds before launch when a telemetry problem with the Soyuz's second stage developed. The launch was then rescheduled for 23:38 GMT (7:28 pm EDT) Saturday.

The Galaxy-14 telecommunications satellite will receive and transmit commercial TV signals across the U.S. territory and provide Internet-services. It will be a part of the space satellite grouping of the U.S. PanAmSat Corporation.
Orbital Science Corporation developed the Galaxy-14 spacecraft on the basis of the modern Star-2 satellite platform. The satellite weights 2,086 kilograms and will operate in the geo-stationary orbit for at least 15 years.

Launch was put on hold for the Soyuz-Fregat mission with PanAmSat's Galaxy 14 satellite

The flight of PanAmSat's Galaxy 14 satellite was put on hold early today when a telemetry anomaly occurred with its Soyuz-Fregat launcher during the final countdown at Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Both the Galaxy 14 payload and the Soyuz-Fregat vehicle were immediately configured in a safe mode on Launch Pad number 6 at the Cosmodrome.

A new launch date will be announced following an analysis of the telemetry anomaly.

The Power supply to the Federal Space Agency buildings in Moscow have been cut!

"Power supply has been cut at about 15.05 Moscow time at both buildings of the agency for unknown reasons. Power supply resumed for two minutes 15 minutes later, but it was suspended again".

Accordingly computers and communications do not work at the Federal Space Agency, the recently created central information point where information from all over Russia and from abroad is coming stopped working.

"There is no autonomous power supply system in the agency".

Information on the Galaxy-14 satellite launch from the Baikonur spaceport will be delayed.

Galaxy 14 will have 24 C-BAND transponders and reside at 125.1 degrees West.



The launch count has begun, with 2 hours and 41 minutes left....

The next launch, will be of Galaxy 15, is scheduled for a September 2005 launch and will replace Galaxy 1R at 133 degrees West. It will have 24 C-BAND transponders.

PanAmSat's (the American global satellite broadcasting company) Galaxy 14 satellite will be launched into space by a Russian Soyuz FG/Fregat upper-stage rocket on August 6 at 0:29 a.m. GMT (3:29 a.m. Moscow time)

Galaxy 14 is scheduled to lift-off from Russia's Baikonur Space Centre (leased by Russia from Kazakhstan) .
Technicians began on Monday to assemble Galaxy 14 and the Fregat upper-stage rocket, which will be delivered to a launch facility for general assembly with the Soyuz FG rocket.
