Doctor Who drama casts David Bradley as William Hartnell

Harry Potter actor David Bradley will play "first Doctor" William Hartnell in a BBC drama about Doctor Who's creation to mark its 50th anniversary.
An Adventure in Space and Time will tell the story of the genesis of the BBC sci-fi drama in the early 1960s.

'Lost' Doctor Who episodes found

Two missing Doctor Who episodes, which were believed to have been erased, have been discovered in the collection of a former TV engineer.
The 1965 and 1967 episodes star William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton, the first two actors to play The Doctor in the long-running BBC series.

Doctor Who first appeared on BBC television at 17:15 GMT on 23 November 1963

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a time-travelling humanoid alien known as the Doctor who explores the universe in a sentient time machine called the TARDIS, whose exterior appears as a blue police box. Along with a succession of companions, he faces a variety of foes while working to save civilisations, help people, and right wrongs.

Doctor Who 'to be made into film'

Dr Who is to be taken to the big screen by Harry Potter director David Yates.
Yates, who directed the last four Potter films, told Variety that he is about to start work on developing a "Doctor Who" film with the BBC.
