The star was thought to be orbited by one known extrasolar planet, designated WASP-9b. It was catalogued as part of the SuperWASP mission and discovered by the astronomical transit method.[1]
On September 17, 2009 the SuperWASP teamed retracted their identification of a planetary companion to WASP-9, saying they had identified the spectral signature of another star in the system. They believe that WASP-9 is in fact a hierarchical triple.
