China space station to fall to Earth in 2017

China's first space station is expected to fall back to Earth in the second half of 2017, amid speculation authorities have lost control of it.
The Tiangong-1 or "Heavenly Palace" laboratory was launched in 2011 as part of an ambitious Chinese plan to catch up with other space powers.

The Shenzhou-9 spacecraft launched successfully on 16 June 2012, carrying with it China's first female astronaut, Liu Yang. Shenzhou 9 is expected to dock with Tiangong-1 on 18 June.

China to build first space telescope

China may build its first large-calibre space telescope on its space station, said Gong Huixing, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Its calibre will be smaller than that of the Hubble Space Telescope, but its field of view will be wider that of the Hubble, said Gong.

Tiangong-1 orbiter enters long-term operation management

Chinese orbiter Tiangong-1 has entered into long-term operation management in space after docking twice with the unmanned spacecraft Shenzhou-8, a committee in charge of the orbiter's management duty said Saturday.
