Brian May is completing his doctorate in astrophysics, more than 30 years after he abandoned his studies to form the rock group Queen.
The 60-year-old guitarist and songwriter said he plans to submit his thesis, Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud, to supervisors at Imperial College London within the next two weeks.

May Completes Phd Thesis.... Queen guitarist Brian May has completed his thesis for a PhD in astronomy - more than 30 years after he started the academic paper.
The We Will Rock You star, 59, earned a physics degree from London's prestigious university Imperial College in the 1970s, but abandoned his studies for a doctorate in favour of a music career.

 Brian May has reportedly pulled out of a planned duet with Joss Stone.
The Queen guitarist was scheduled to perform with the 20-year-old soul singer at the Concert For Diana on Sunday, but is said to have cancelled his appearance at the Wembley Stadium gig to concentrate on his studies.

Brian May hopes to complete his 35-years-in-waiting university degree later this year and emerge with a doctorate, Sound Generator can reveal.
The Queen guitarist, 59, has gone back to uni life to complete his astronomy degree which he started before joining the legendary rockers in the 1970's, reports the Daily Mail this week.
May is completing his thesis at London's Imperial College.

In 1969, Brian May, lead guitarist of the legendary rock band Queen, gave up a career in astrophysics to pursue his dream of becoming an international rock star. Now, almost four decades later, the two strands of his life, music and astronomy, are coming back together. He is currently finishing the PhD he started at Imperial College London back when Queen was just beginning to take off. He has also co-authored a popular book on cosmology, Bang! The complete history of the universe.
