A strong magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred at 01:45:56 (UTC) on Friday, April 20, 2007, in the South-western Ryukyu Islands Region, 180 km NE of Ishigaki-jima, Ryukyu Islands, Japan, at a depth of 10 km.

A strong magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred at 00:26:45 (UTC) on Friday, April 20, 2007, in the South-western Ryukyu Islands Region, 165 km NNE of Ishigaki-jima, Ryukyu Islands, Japan, at a depth of 50.4 km.

At around 9:42 a.m. on March 25, 2007, Japan Standard Time (JST, all  dates and times hereinafter are in JST,) a major earthquake, later  named the "2007 Noto Peninsular Earthquake," hit the Noto region of  Japan. The epicentre was offshore from the Noto Peninsular (about 40  km west-south-west of the city of Wajima.)  The Japan Aerospace  Exploration Agency (JAXA) detected a rise in the surface of the land  due to the earthquake by analysing observation images acquired by the  Advanced Land Observing Satellite "Daichi" on April 10.
