These planetary eyepieces have a revised, modified Plossl build, 5 lenses in 3 groups (the 9 mm eyepiece has 6 lenses in 4 groups), of course, all multi-coated lens surfaces (fully multi coating). Distortion stays low even with bright (around f/5) telescopes.

Ed ~ A nice eyepiece with clear and sharp views. The eyepiece, which is typical for this design, suffers from the annoying 'kidney bean blackout' effect.

The eyepiece uses quite a lot of glass elements, which at first seems not good news for a planetary eyepiece which demands bright and contrasty images at high power; But the eyepiece is well designed and fully multicoated, and provides sharp and flat edge-to-edge high contrast images, with almost unnoticeable chromatic aberration.
The chrome barrel is threaded for standard 1.25" filters and has a capture ring to help reduce the chances of accidentally dropping the eyepiece out of the focuser.  The eyepiece has a fold down rubber eyecup, plactic and rubber body, and a long (16mm) eye relief.

Pricewise the eyepiece offers very good value compared to similar performing eyepieces that are double the price.
