Mexico on Alert over Popocatepetl Volcano Eruption

The Popocatepetl volcano that towers over Mexico City began rumbling again Friday, shooting a blast of ash about 3 kilometres above its crater at dawn.
The ash cloud drifted first to the west and then turned back east toward the city of Puebla, Mexico's national disaster prevention agency said.

Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano erupted at 6:20 a.m. local time, (12:20 GMT), on Saturday,  spewing steam and ash over 2 km high. The eruption was followed by six more blasts  over the following 24 hours.
An area of 12 kilometres around the mountain was blocked off by the local authorities.
The 5, 465- metre volcano is located  70 km southeast of the Mexican capital.

Latitude: 19.023°N,  Longitude: 98.622°W
