And as yet, no reports from the Republic of Madagascar (it was at the start of the final orbit)

NASA's Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, or UARS, re-entered Earth's atmosphere late Sept. 23 or early Sept. 24 Eastern Daylight Time, almost six years after the end of a productive scientific life.

Observers along the west coast of North America reported negative observations after the 04:16 GMT re-entry time. Therefore any debris likely fell into the ocean. The potential orbital ground track stretches from Eastern africa, across the South Indian ocean and upto the north-eastern Pacific, (the only large body of land it passed over or near was  New Zealand).

NASA will conduct a media telecon at 18:00 UT (2 p.m. ET) to discuss the re-entry. The telecon will be streamed live at www.nasa.gov/newsaudio.

Ed ~ One of my problems in getting a more precise time and location was that the orbit was very circular, and no precise first-hand observational data.
