Daniel said he was standing in the driveway of a home in south Kitchener showing some friends the moon and Jupiter through his telescope.
As some of them were peering through the telescope around 8:50 p.m. Daniel happened to be looking at the eastern sky with his naked eye when he saw a bright green flash.

Astronomers say a bright light in the sky Friday just after 9 p.m. was likely a meteor streaking for just a few flashy seconds through the clear autumn darkness.
Raymond Chou, president of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada -- Toronto Centre, said reports of sightings have come in from as far west as London, Ont., as far east as Durham Region, maybe even Ottawa, and as far north as Coldwater.

Frank Dempsey was driving to his observatory in North Ajax last night when he saw a bright green light illuminate the sky and road in front of him.

Witnesses said the fireball looked like a fireworks display and had a long, flaming tail.
Josie Dunn was one of the lucky ones who spotted the spectacular sight as she was fishing at Ashbridges Bay in east Toronto around 9 p.m. Friday.
