A strong magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred at 10:47:06 (UTC) on Sunday, August 12, 2012, in the Northern Tibetan region, 282km ESE of Hotan, at a Depth of 9.7 km

Songs of the Buddha is a collection of Tibetan Prayers and Mantras from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Featuring the poetry of H.H. Rimay Gyalten Sogdzin Rinpoche as well as traditional mantras, this cd was composed, produced and sung by Surya with the intention of being a fundraising project for Rinpoche's village in Tibet.
ALL of the proceeds from Songs of the Buddha will go directly to assist with Earthquake relief in Tibet.

The official death toll from the Tibetan plateau earthquake has reached 1944.

Another 216 people are listed as missing after the quake struck last Wednesday, the official Xinhua news agency said, though rescue operations across the ruined town of Gyegu in Qinghai province's Yushu country were being scaled down as the focus shifted to aid distribution.

'No link' between Chinese quakes

The southern Qinghai area of China has been hit by very few large earthquakes since 1900.
And there is no direct relationship between this earthquake and the devastating event in Szechuan, China, in May 2008.

At least 300 people have died and others are trapped under rubble after a magnitude-6.9 earthquake struck China's Qinghai province, officials say.
The powerful tremor hit remote Yushu county, 500km south-west of provincial capital Xining, at 07:49 (23:49 GMT), at a shallow depth of 10km.
